BNP will stage demonstrations all over the country today protesting against the death of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Zakir Hossain Milon in police custody.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference at its central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Thursday.
The party organised a doa (special prayer) at different mosques throughout the country, including the capital, after Juma prayers on March 16 praying for eternal peace of the departed soul.
As per the announcement, BNP leaders and activists will stage demonstrations wearing black badges at district headquarters and metropolitan cities across the country.
They will stage protests at every thana in the capital.
Meanwhile, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi along with a few leaders and activists took out a procession in the capital’s Nayapaltan area around 6am on Saturday, demanding unconditional release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail.
After taking part in the procession, Rizvi hurriedly returned to the BNP headquarters where he has been staying since February 28 in a bid to avoid arrest, BNP sources said..
