Basic course on chemical weapon ends in city

The closing ceremony of regional basic course on Assistance and Protection against Chemical Weapons and Emergency Response to Chemical Incidents for States Parties in Asia-2018 concluded at Le Meridian Hotel in the capital on Thursday.

Secretary of Ministry of Disaster and Relief Md Shah Kamal was present as the chief guest at the event. He handed out certificates among participants.

Representatives from Director General, Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a good number of personnel from Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC), armed forces, fire service and civil defence and from various chemical industries and institutions were also present during the concluding ceremony.

Thanking BNACWC, Md Shah Kamal said that this endeavour would certainly make fire service and civil defence department more efficient in countering any chemical incident or accident.

He expressed the hope that OPCW and BNACWC would also remain committed to ensuring chemical safety and security for creation of a peaceful world.
