Islam does not allow killing innocents

Islam is a religion of peace and justice. Islam never supports killing innocent people.

In fact, there is no room for killing innocent people in Islam. Almighty, the Most High, says, “Do no mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in order. (Surah al-a’raf: Ayat 56). In another ayat of the Holy Qur’an Allah says, “Whoever kills a person [innocent person]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (Surah al Maidah: Ayat:32). But who follows the indication of Allah? In Syria, the Network For Human Rights (SNHR) reports the death tolls in 2017; 10,204 civilians have been killed including 2,298 children and 1,536 women. On February 24, the SNHR reported the death of 35 civilians, including 10 children and 9 women. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) prohibited soldiers from killing women and children and he advised them: Do not betray, do not be excessive, and do not kill a newborn child. (Saheeh Muslim).

Allah, the Almighty, states unambiguously in Qur’an: “Nor take life -which Allah has made sacred – except for just cause - to protect human life and caring for creation.” (Zahratu-tafaseer, Abu Zahrah). And if anyone is slained wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand retaliation or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life, for he is helped (by the Law).”(Qur’an:17:33). According to this verse, it is unlawful in Islam to murder anyone who is innocent. If any Muslim kills an innocent person that Muslim has committed a grave sin, and the action cannot be claimed to have been committed “in the name of Islam.”

Abdulaziz bin Abdallah Al-Ashaykh, chief mufti of Saudi Arabia says, “You must know Islam’s firm position against all these terrible crimes. The world must know that Islam is a religion of peace and mercy and goodness; it is a religion of justice and guidance. Islam has forbidden violence in all its forms. It forbids all acts that undermine the security of the innocent.”

According to Ayatollah Ali Khamene’i, the supreme jurist-ruler of Iran: “Killing of people, in any place and with any kind of weapons, including atomic bombs, long-range missiles, biological or chemical weopons, passenger or war planes, carried out by any organization, country or individuals is condemned. … It makes no difference whether such massacres happen in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Qana, Sabra, Shatila, Deir Yassin, Bosnia, Syria, Iraq or in New York and Washington.”(Islamic Republic News Agency).

Once the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.” (Al-Bukhari). He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so Allah forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet (pbuh) was asked, “Messenger of Allah, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said, “There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.”(Saheeh Muslim).

The act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, bombing, killing innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts, according to Islam.  A Muslim who commits an act of killing is guilty of violating the laws of Islam as well.
