The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday once again interrogated former BASIC Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu over embezzlement of huge amount of money from the state-owned bank.
Bacchu was grilled for around seven hours from 9.45pm while ACC director led Syed Iqbal Hossain the interrogation, spokesperson for the anti-graft body Pranab Kumer Bhattacharjje said.
Pranab also said Bacchu fell sick during the interrogation at about 4:00pm for some time when an ACC medical team provided treatment to him.
However, Bacchu refrained from making any comments to journalists while he was leaving the ACC headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha area around 5:00pm.
This is for the forth time that Bacchu faced ACC interrogation over the much-talked about loan scam.
A Bangladesh Bank inquiry says about Tk 4,500 crore was swindled out of Basic Bank in a period of six years when Bachhu was the chairman of the bank.
The ACC filed 56 cases against 156 individuals, including 26 bank officials, with three police stations in Dhaka in 2015..
