Two militants held in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two operatives of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Tejgaon area in the capital on Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Md Nuruzzaman Labu, 39, of Jhenaidah and Nazmul Islam Shawon, 26, of Faridpur, RAB said. Mufti Mahmud Khan, legal and media wing director of RAB, said “A team of RAB-2 arrested the duo from Sonali Bank Crossing under Tejgaon Shilpanchal police station around 7:10pm on Monday.”

RAB members also seized two machetes, 724 US dollars and jihadi books from their possessions, he added. He said Shawon is a marine engineer and they joined the JMB in 2015.
