Fashionology summit in Dhaka to drive future fashion

Global leading experts on apparel technology, innovation and automation will share experience with Bangladeshi apparel manufacturers about latest trend at Bangladesh Fashionology Summit to be held in Dhaka.

The day long fashion tech summit on apparel industry will be held on February 12 at International Convention Center, Bashundhara in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), the organiser of the event is also going to arrange the first ever Digital Tech Fashion Show during the event.

Some of the most creative and innovative fashion design with digital and tech twists will be displayed in the fashion show.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is likely to attend as the chief guest of the closing summit while ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Prime Minister’s Office Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman are likely be the special guests.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Md Siddiqur Rahman, CEBAI President Md Atiqul Islam, Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh Leoni Cuelenaere and Microsoft Bangladesh, Managing Director Sonia Bashir Kabir are also scheduled to attend the programme as guests of the event.

The summit is aimed at presenting the latest technology used in the clothing industry to make Bangladeshi Manufacturers familiar with it and to encourage them to go on use of it.

A total of 16 renowned speakers from 10 countries will participate the first ever fashion and tech summit to discuss about latest apparel products, technology and innovation that will shape the future of the industry.

In four seminars-- Factory of the Future, Virtual Reality and Digitalization of Supply Chain, Fashion Tech and Sustainable Innovation and Mass Customization and on Demand Manufacturing, speakers will share their experience and knowledge to inform Bangladesh manufacturers.

The Managing Director of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) Mohiuddin Rubel said: “The very objective of the BAE is to promote the apparel industry of Bangladesh. As the automation and innovation are the next major areas where the industry needs to focus on, the Bangladesh Fashionology Summit is going to be organized to inspire the duo in the industry.” The Founder and CEO of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) Mostafiz Uddin said: “By organizing the Bangladesh Fashionology Summit we endeavour to bridge the gap between the present and future of Bangladesh apparel and textile industry through technology, innovation and knowledge sharing.”

“We are bringing together under one roof the most inspiring and innovative thinkers from across the globe to initiate the much-needed conversations around technology, digitalization and innovation in the apparel and fashion industry,” he added.

The experts and thinkers who will attend the programme are Jonathan Zornow who invented Sewbo or the robot to sew a garment; Pradeep David, General Manager of Universal Robots South Asia and a pioneer of Cobot concept, Vikas Raykar, an expert on Cognitive Fashion at IBM Watson, David Birnbaum, the Strategic Advisor to the World Bank, Sunil Shewakramani, the Executive Vice President of Li & Fung India Pvt Ltd, Muchaneta Kapfunde, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Fashnerd,
