Govt mulls shutting down social media during SSC exams

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday said that they are planning to shut operation of social media like Facebook, Twitter across the country during the SSC and equivalent examinations, reports UNB.

Talking to the reporters at the secretariat, he said “A decision in this regard will be taken later after discussion”, he added.

Nahid said that all kinds of coaching centers across the country will be closed during the upcoming Secondary School Certificate and equivalentexaminations across the country.

SSC and equivalentexaminations is scheduled to begin on February 1.

Nahid also said his detained personal officer (PO) Motaleb Hossain and another Education Ministry staff Nasir Uddin will be suspended.

Nahid said “The duo will be suspended from the ministry today and their suspension will continue until the graft investigation against them concludes.”

Earlier this morning, a case was filed against Motaleb, Nasir and Lakehead Grammar School owner Khaled Hasan Motin on various charges including exchanging bribes.

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the trio on Sunday night.
