Bangladesh National Under-19 Cricket Team were given a harsh introduction to the challenge of New Zealand conditions as they subsided to a 6-wicket loss against Otago A team in their first practice match on Wednesday at University of Otago Oval in Dunedin.
Opted to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh youths were dismissed for 170 in 40.2 overs despite a commanding knock of 54 by skipper Saif Hasan. A valuable 44-run knock came from Afif Hossain’s willow.
Otago A in reply, surpassed the target in 36.5 overs after losing four wickets with a formidable opening partnership.GW Crowdis struck a 96-ball 73. Rutherford contributed 44.
Robiul Haque impressed everyone with ball by picking three wickets for 16 runs from his six overs.
The ICC Under-19 World Cup is scheduled to start from January 13.
