Country’s most prestigious 50-over tournament, the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) is finally set to roll on the ground on February 5.

Players’ draft for the upcoming season will be held on January 20.

Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis President Kazi Inam Ahmed briefed journalists on Wednesday at BCB office in Mirpur. He said that he will try to bring back the actual attraction in the country’s prestigious fifty-over tournament.

This time there will be no open team changing process in DPL. No cricketer is allowed to entitle his name to his favourite club. Besides, the highest and minimum wages of the players were also decided in the meeting.

As players’ draft will be held for the first time in DPL, its authority will set some rules for the cricketers.

“Firstly, 12 players will be kept open in ‘A’ and ‘A+’ category. They will be in out of choice. Apart from those who played in the previous season, every club can retain maximum five players this year. 12 cricketers, who are in special categories, will be able to choose each of the clubs,” said Kazi Inam Ahmed.

Besides, the players’ fees were also tied up. The highest salary of a cricketer is fixed at Taka 40 lakh. Taka 3 lakh will be the lowest minimum wage which will be received by a player, who will be in the category of apprenticeship.
