The Children-oriented film ‘Ankhi O Tar Bondhura’, directed by filmmaker Morshedul Islam and made with a government grant, was released on Friday in six cinemas across the country.
The cinema halls are- Star Cineplex and Jamuna Blockbuster of Dhaka, Pix Cineplex and Chhayabani of Mymensingh and Khulna’s Liberty.
This is the third child-based film of director Morshedul Islam.
Earlier, he had made another two much acclaimed cinema tilted ‘Dipu Number 2’ and ‘Amar Bondhu Rashed’, which were highly successful.
Based on the popular novel by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal of the same title, Akhi O Tar Bondhura revolves around Akhi, a child with vision disability, and her friends.
Ankhi, a blind girl, comes to study at a general school. With supports from a new headmistress, Dr aisa, her classmate Titu and others Ankhi feel included.
When the students go to Banderban to celebrate being champion in a school cricket tournament, they are caught by human traffickers. However, with their smarts and bravery, they escape and help get the perpetrators arrested.
Ankhi’s story inspires other specially-abled children to join the school.
Jahin Nawar Huq Isha has played the role of Ankhi, while other characters in the film have been played by Ananya Shamael, Juariya Ahmed Prottasha, Ariyana Kabir, Shakil Ahmed, Ayman Mahmud Ariyan, Abdus Shihab Apon, Syed Ashiquzzaman Romeo, Dhrubanti and Navid Hasan Omi.
Seasoned actors Subarna Mustafa, Tariq Anam Khan, Al Mansur, SM Mohsin, Mannan Hira, Munira Yousuf Memi, Sushmita Sinha and others have also acted in the film.
