CHITTAGONG:  Accused of the sensational Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Diaj Irfan Chowdhury murder case demanded immediate withdrawal of the case.

They made the demand at a press conference at Chittagong Press Club on Sunday.

President Alamgir Tipu of the recently dissolved BCL unit of Chittagong University (CU) put up their three-point demand at the press conference.

The other demands included cancellation of membership of Diaj’s elder sister Advocate Jobaida Sarwar Nipa from Bar Association for taking illegal opportunities using the murder case, and an end to harassment and not to arrest the accused.

At the press conference, accused Rashedul Alam Jishan, Abu Torab, Mansur Alam, Abdul Malek, Mizanur Rahman and Md Arman were present among others.

Tipu claimed that they obtained bail in the case from the High Court and will appeal to the court for the third autopsy of the body of Diaj.

He also threatened to enforce strike on the university campus if the case is not withdrawn.
