The week-long Income Tax Fair-2017 begins today across the country with an objective to motive people to pay taxes and help them filing and submission of tax returns.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) has already completed all preparations to hold the tax fair effectively in Dhaka and other divisional cities, districts and upazilas, said NBR officials.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan will centrally inaugurate the fair at NBR building at the city’s Agargaon area.
The tax fair will be held in a total of 171 places across the country and the taxpayers will be able to file their tax return online from the fair, said NBR officials.
The fair will continue all the seven days at divisional level while it will be four days at district level. “A one-day mobile tax fair will also be held at 71 upazilas and two-day (permanent) tax fair at 31 upazilas,” said senior information officer of NBR Syed A Mumen.
The NBR will also observe the National Income Tax Day on November 30 which will be the last date for submission of income tax returns. There is no scope to extend the deadline for submission of income tax return, according to a NBR circular.
