The third edition of Bangladesh ICT Expo is set to kick off in Dhaka next week to promote local hardware industry in efforts to transform Bangladesh into a leading manufacturing country.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is likely to inaugurate the three-day exposition at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at Agargaon in Dhaka on October 18.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division organizes the expo, the largest exhibition of hardware products in the country, in association with Bangladesh Computer Samity(BCS).

The expo will showcase the innovations in hardware products from public and private sector at 132 stalls in the fair classified in 10 zones, said ICT State Minster Zunaid Ahemd Palak while briefing the media at his office on Wednesday.

Organizers informed that about 50 foreign technology experts are expected to visit the country on the occasion who will share their experiences and knowledge on latest state of innovation in this field.

“Bangladesh is moving forward with new identity of invention producer from an importer. There are some local companies producing quality hardware,” said Zunaid Ahmed Palak. “Some foreign firms have also expressed their interests to set up local assembling centre in Dhaka which will lead Bangladesh to a hardware producer country,” he added.

ICT division secretary Subir Kishore Choudhury, Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum, BCS President Ali Ashfaq and 2017 ICT Expo convener Subrata Sarkar spoke, among others, on the occasion. The expo will remain open for all from 10am to 8pm.
