Three killed in Ctg road accidents

CHITTAGONG: Four persons, including a woman, were killed in separate accidents in the city and district on Friday.     

The deceased were identified as Atol Talukdar, 32, Mohammad Elahi, 40, Monoara Begum, 35, and Md Shahid, 30.

Of them, Atol and Elahi were killed in separate road accidents while Shahid in electrocution and Monoara committed suicide.

 Sources said a goods-laden speedy truck ran over Atol in front of Chittagong Government College while he was walking along road to go to his workplace at Chawakbazar in the city at around 7:30am.

The accident left him critically injured.

He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where physicians declared him dead at around 8:10am, said Nayek Md Amir of the hospital police outpost.   

Inspector SM Jahangir Alam of Kumira Highway police said a microbus hit Elahi from the behind direction while crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Joraamtala area in Sonaichhari under Sitakunda upazila at around 9:00am.

The accident left him killed on the spot, said the inspector, adding that the microbus along with its driver was detained.

On the other hand, Monoara took poison over feud with her husband Abdus Salam at Fatikchhari upazila in the district at around 9:30am on Friday.  

She was rushed in a critical state to the CMCH, where physicians declared her dead, said the hospital sources.

Meanwhile, Md Shahid came into contact with live wire while he was painting on a wall in a house of one Babul in the city’s Akbar Shah area on Friday noon.
