David Willey in Rangpur camp for BPL-5

Rangpur Riders have roped in David Willey in their ranks for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017. Rangpur have confirmed Willey’s inclusion through their official Facebook page on Thursday.

The English all-rounder will add a new dimension to the already formidable Rangpur arsenal. Willey, with his left-arm medium pace and clean hitting abilities, can become a dependable player in the tournament.

His swinging left arm medium pace will suit the slow and low pitches of Bangladesh and has the potential to be show match winning capability.


With a tally of 132 wickets from 136 matches with an economy of 7.72, he can light up the BPL for the franchise.

Previous seasons of BPL has shown the effectiveness of slow medium pacers in Bangladesh conditions. Players of the likes of Muktar Ali became very effective in previous meets when he played for team Rajshahi. Willey is perfectly suited for such a role.

Moreover, his clean hitting credentials make him one of the players to watch out for in BPL 2017. He has a strike rate of 144.84 in T20s which goes on to show his ability to innovate and risk taking mentality.
