‘Fugitive killers of Bangabandhu must be brought back’

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said the fugitive convicted killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman must be brought back to the country.

The state minister said this while addressing a meeting and doa mahfil on the occasion of the National Mourning Day in Rajshahi on Friday.

Local unit of Awami League organised the event on Monigram High School playground under Bagha upazila of the district.

With local party president Saiful Islam in the chair, UP Chairmen Azizul Azam, Rafiqul Islam and Shafiqur Rahman and party leaders Abdul Gani, Fatema Khatun and Nazmul Hossain also spoke.

Shahriar said the killers who are on the run won’t be able to walk free. Punishment will be meted out to them to stop the recurrence of such types of heinous crimes, he added.

He said Awami League would once again assume power, as people would re-elect the party for its ceaseless efforts to improve their living standards.

“Whenever the Awami League comes to power, common people get a chance of uplifting their socio-economic condition,” he added.

He claimed that the BNP and Jamaat have been hatching a deep-rooted conspiracy against the pro-liberation forces to foil the next general election.

The state minister urged the leaders and activists of Awami League and all its associate bodies to unite to thwart all the plots.

He also called upon the Awami League men to win the hearts of general people to make the party victorious in the next general election.
