‘CEC’s speech creates fear among voters’

Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh general secretary Saiful Huq on Monday said the road map given by the Election Commission (EC) ahead of the 11th general election will not bring any benefit if the election system is not reformed.

“If public faith to the EC and election system is not brought back then this election road map will not bring any benefit. Without reforming the election system, this road map only will waste time and money,” he said in a written statement.

He said the countrymen have become frustrated for the Sunday’s speech of Chief Election Commissioner about the next general election.  “Telling about holding fair election under the current government rather he (CEC) has created deep concern and fear among the countrymen who are deprived of voting rights,” said Saiful.

The left-leaning leader called upon the government to take effective political initiative for creating faith among the opposition political parties and the people.

He also urged the EC to come forward to apply their moral strength and strongly discharging constitutional duty in holding neutral and fair election.
