Navy ship rescues nine fishermen from Bay

BNS Atandra, an offshore patrol vessel of the Bangladesh Navy, rescued nine fishermen whose fishing boat was sinking in the Bay of Bengal due to bad weather on Tuesday morning.

On receiving information that a fishing boat with 11 fishermen started sinking near Sonadia of Cox’s Bazar in the Bay of Bengal, the naval ship rushed to the spot and started rescue operation, says an ISPR release.

Later, navy team in association with local fishermen rescued nine fishermen alive and recovered the boat from bottom of the deep sea.

The boat was dragged to Pekua. Operation on to rescue the remaining two fishermen from the Bay, the release added.
