Dhaka Women’s Marathon held

The 2nd edition of the “Omera LPG Dhaka Women’s Marathon” ended with huge festivity to mark the International Women’s day at Hatir Jheel in the capital on Friday.

The slogan of the Marathon was ‘Safe Dhaka for Women’.

Imago Sports Management Ltd and Everest Academy jointly organised the event.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the Women’s Marathon on Friday morning.

More than 500 participants from defense forces, corporate firms, celebrities like film/TV, actors/actress, female ambassadors of different embassies at Dhaka, professionals who are working with international organisations, female students from universities, colleges and schools participated in the meet.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest at the prize distribution program.

Dhaka Women’s Marathon paraded 10 kilometer in the city. It started from Hatir Jheel near the FDC intersection and ended at the same point.

The 110 participants paraded total Marathon map within 90 minutes. Meruna Begum of Bangladesh Navy emerged as champions clocking 52 minute 18 seconds.

The top five winners received medals, certificates and lots of gift hampers from the Omera and Topper.
