Jubo Dal men torch murder suspect’s house in Jashore

Jubo Dal activists protesting the murder of a local leader torched the house of the prime suspect in the killing in Jashore on Monday. 

Rubel Hossain, 38, joint general secretary of Bandabila union Jubo Dal, was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of Khajura filling station in Bagherpara upazila around 11:30am.

Police said the demonstration lasted about 30 minutes and was held on the Jashore-Magura highway near Khajura filling station in the evening

Bagherpara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahjalal Alam said a section of the protesters torched the house of the prime suspect, Rabbi, after the demonstration ended.

Police and Fire Service personnel later doused the flames. The demonstrators demanded the swift arrest of all those involved in the killing and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.

Police suspect the murder stemmed from a long-running personal dispute.
