As the Eid ul-Fitr festival approaches, factories in the Dhaka and Chattogram industrial zones have demonstrated remarkable compliance in settling employee dues.

According to the Industrial Police, as of 17 March 2026, nearly all active factories have disbursed salaries and bonuses, providing financial reassurance to hundreds of thousands of workers.

The latest report covering 2,127 factories shows that payments for January have been fully completed, while February salaries have been largely cleared, with 98.92% of factories fulfilling their obligations.

Eid bonuses have also seen widespread distribution, reaching 97.79% of employees. In addition, a proactive 40.90% of factories have begun issuing advance salaries for March, further easing workers’ festive preparations.

Dhaka, with its 1,785 factories, leads the way, having achieved nearly full compliance in both February salary payments (98.99%) and Eid bonuses (98.21%), with almost half of the factories already providing March advances.

Chattogram, home to 342 factories, mirrors this trend with 98.54% of February wages and 95.61% of Eid bonuses paid, though a small number of units are yet to complete their distributions.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Bank recently provided Tk2,500 crore in cash incentives across 43 sectors, including textiles, frozen seafood and leather, to support exporters ahead of Eid.

The central bank also introduced a special loan facility allowing export-oriented factories to borrow funds to pay one month’s wages to workers.

Earlier, Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury directed factory owners to clear all outstanding wages and bonuses before Eid.
