Bangladesh National Alliance (BNN) chairman and former minister Barrister Nazmul Huda today announced floating a new political party named 'Trinamul BNP'.
He made the announcement at a press conference at Gulshan Westin Hotel in the city, BSS reports.
Huda, who became convener of the new party, pledged to reform Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) through this process.
He said after boycotting January 5 (2014) polls, the BNP has become almost inactive and eliminated. The party is now being run from London, he added.
A former minister of BNP government, Nazmul Huda criticized policies pursued by BNP chief Khaleda Zia and said the BNP has failed under her leadership.
There is no way for BNP to turn around without changing its leadership, he said criticizing party committees at different levels.
He said a 21-member national standing committee will lead the Trinamul BNP, which is a non-communal party based on the spirit of the liberation war.
Replying to a question, Nazmul Huda said his party will seek 'Dhaner Thor' as election symbol.
