Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Monday said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is trying to turn her party into a terrorist outfit and necessary steps will be taken in this regard when she will return home.
“BNP and Jamaat have made themselves terrorist outfits while resorting to violence and arson attacks following the 2008 national election,” he told a press briefing at the PID Conference Room at the Secretariat, UNB reports.
Asked whether the government will allow the BNP chairperson to return home, Inu said the government will not create any obstruction to her return.
“Necessary steps will be taken against her in connection with the cases she is being tried,” he added.
The press briefing was arranged to respond to a recent statement of BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed holding the government responsible for the ‘rise in terrorism and militancy’ in the country.
