BNP leader Shahriar Rumi quits

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central committee member MM Shahriar Rumi on Sunday announced his retirement from politics quitting all posts of the party days after resignation by Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.


Rumi said he sent his resignation letter to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon through currier service in addition to issuing a press release with his signature in the morning.


‘I can’t adjust with the party ideology. So, I’ve decided to quit politics,’ he said on Sunday.


Shahriar Rumi, also senior vice present of Faridpur unit of BNP, joined the party in 2001 deserting Awami League, reports UNB.


Earlier on October 29, BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury retired from politics on health ground quitting all posts of the party.
