Mentioning that the sacrifice of Imam Hossain (RA) for truth and justice is a glaring example for human being to follow, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday urged all to work together for restoring democracy in the country imbued with the spirit of Ashura.
The BNP chief made the call in a message issued on the occasion of the holy Ashura to be observed on Saturday, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), UNB reports.
"The 10th Muharram is a very significant day for the Muslim Ummah. On this sad day, Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) embraced martyrdom during his fight against unfair and injustice...His sacrifice for truth and justice remains as an example for mankind, including Bangladeshis, to follow," she said.
"It's the duty of every person to be vocal against unjust, injustice and misdeeds as Islam teaches us this lesson. "As a follower of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), it's our duty to put up a strong resistance against any anti-people regime, its misdeeds and misrule," the BNP chief added.
Mentioning that Bangladesh is now going through a bad time with injustice and misdeeds, she said the possibility of getting justice has completely diminished from here.
Khaleda alleged that the current 'usurper' government has been repressing people by snatching their rights only to subdue them. "So, we have to be imbued with the sacrifice of the 10th Muharram to restore our lost democracy, protect the country's independence and sovereignty and fight against injustice.
Khaleda paid deep respect to the memories of martyr Imam Hossain (RA), his family members and all those embraced martyrdoms at Karbala. She also prayed for salvation of their departed souls.
