Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Thursday said the involvement of some BNP leaders has been found in the recent killings of two foreigners.
“Intelligence agencies have already gathered some information about those involved in the killings of two foreigners …the link of a number of BNP leaders in the incidents is getting visible,” he said.
Hanif further said, “Action will be taken against all those involved in the murders on completion of the investigations. No one, having hand in the killings, will spared, no matter how top leaders they are.”
The Awami League leader made the remarks while exchanging views with their party leaders and activists at his residence in the town.
Hoshi Kunio, a Japanese citizen, was shot dead in Rangpur on October 3, while Cesare Tavella, an Italian national, gunned down in Dhaka's Gulshan area on September 28, UNB reports.
Hanif said the two foreign nationals were killed to tarnish the government’s image abroad. “It’s assumed that BNP-Jamaat carried out the incidents aiming to oust the government…we’re assuring all that the BNP-Jamaat won’t be able to implement their any plot,” he observed.
Hanif said BNP leaders are making confusing remarks about the government out of their frustration as the government has much success in the last seven years.
