Demanding cancellation of coal-fired thermal power plants at Rampal near Sunderban, the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) will go on a 5-day road march towards Sunderbans from Dhaka.
The announcement of the programme was made by the leaders of the two parties in a press conference at CPB central office on Wednesday.
The march will begin on October 13, from National Press Club in the city around 3:00pm.
The marchers will travel, Jahangirnagar University, Manikganj, Faridpur, Jessore, Khulna and finally it will hold a concluding rally in Bagerhat on October 17.
Mujahidul Islam Selim, the CPB president, urged the on prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to stop the destructive projects to sustain her fame ‘as an environment friendly leader’.
The BSD general secretary Khalequzzaman, central leaders Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Razequzzaman Ratan, CPB presidium member Sajjad Zahir Chandan, central leader Ruhin Hossain Prince and others attended the press conference.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Left Alliance, a combine of the eight left leaning political parties will also hold Dhaka-Rampal three day road march from October 16 to 18, to press the demands of scrapping the proposed thermal power plants.
