Customs Intelligence today seized 18 gold bars weighing 2.100 kilograms worth about Taka one crore and arrested a Dubai returned passenger in the connection from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
"We arrested one Md Selim Uddin of Fatikchhari of Chittagong along with the gold bars from Green Channel area of the airport this morning," Dr. Mainul Khan, director general (DG) of Customs Intelligence, told BSS.
"The gold bars were concealed in two water taps made by steel which was wrapped with black tape. Each of the bars is weighing 10 tolas," he said.
Selim came to Dhaka from Dubai by a flight EK-592 this morning, he said adding that his passport number is AF-5684747.
A case was filed to this end.
