Bangladesh Railway (BR) today signed an agreement with Indian firm Balaji Railroad System Limited on rehabilitation of the 51.53-km Kulaura- Shahbazpur section.
General Manager of BR (East) M Mozammel Haque and Corporate Head (Commercial) of Balaji Railroad System Limited signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides, BSS reports.
Railways Minister M Mazibul Haque and secretary in charge of the ministry Feroz Salauddin witnessed the agreement signing ceremony.
The implementation cost of the Kulaura-Shahbazpur section has been estimated at Taka 678 crore, 50 lakh and 79 thousand, while the project assistance is Taka 555 crore, 98 lakh and 76 thousand.
The project would be implemented under the Indian line of credit in 30 months, officials said.
Later, Railway Minister M Mazibul Haque, Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran and BR director general Amjad Hossain spoke on the occasion.
