Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising a musical evening of folk songs by Nurjahan Alim Tuni, daughter of ligendery folk singer, at 6:30 pm on August 1 at the IGCC at Gulshan-1 in the capital.
Born in Dhaka, Tuni initially got her inspiration in music from her father and renowned folk singer of Bangladesh late Abdul Alim, an Indian High Commission release said on Tuesday.
Later, Tuni learnt music from other renowned Ustads like Akhter Sadmani and Nazrul Islam.' She also got trained in classical music under Anup Barua in Chhayanaut.
After her excellent performance in 'Notun Kuri' broadcast in Bangladesh Television, Tuni has been regularly performing in stage programmes and different TV channels.
She has released a solo album titled 'Majhi' in 2014. She is working for her next album 'A Tribute to Abdul Alim'. She has received several awards like 'Pen Pulse Club Award,' and 'Badshah Khalid Award.'
