"Gabo: The Creation of Gabriel García Márquez," a portrait of the Nobel Prize-winning author who died last year at 87, has been scooped up by indie distributor Icarus Films for North American release.
Directed by Barcelona-based filmmaker Justin Webster and shot in Colombia (the writer's native country), Cuba, France, Mexico, Spain and the Us, "Gabo" asks the question, "How did a boy from a tiny town on the Caribbean coast become a writer who won the hearts of millions? How did he change our perception of reality with his work?"
Release date forthcoming. The film's 2015 festival run includes Lima, Mexico City Docs, and the 2015 New York Colombian International Film Festival.
