Two college students of Chittagong City College drowned and three others went missing in the Bay during observing ‘Borsha Boran Utshob’ in Cox’s Bazar on Friday afternoon.
Quoting Jamal Hossain, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police in Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station, local correspondent reported that deceased were Identified as Imon Chowdhury, 18, and Aki Mow, 17, both belong to Rakhine community.
The identities of three missing people could not be known immediately.
According to the ASI Jamal, a large number of Rakhine people were having bath in the Bay at Shaibal Point around 4:00pm, on the last day of the three-month programme begging in May, the ASI said.
All on a sudden, five of them went under water, he added. Later, drivers rescued the two conducting a search in the sea and sent them to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital where doctors declared them dead. The search operations were going on for the missing people.
