Non-MPO teachers and employees on Friday continued their sit-in agitation demanding their inclusion in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.

Under the banner of ‘Non-MPO Educational Institutions Teachers’ and Employees' Federation’, they have been continuing the demo for the third consecutive days since Wednesday in front of the road of Jatiya Press Club in the city.

Insiders, however, have smelt a rat about the movement of teachers in the name of MPO, blocking the important road of the capital.

The agitation of non-MPO teachers and employees was allegedly fueled by a vested quarters to create unrest centring the movement in the country.

Sources say the government is giving MPO through following proper rules and regulations but the non-government institutions are demanding MPO facilities without following rules in this regard.

Earlier, the demonstrations on Thursday started a procession towards the Prime Minister Office around 11:00am but police intercepted them at Kodom Foara intersection.

Seeking intervention of the prime minister, they said they will not withdraw their demo until their demands fulfill.
