Prime Minister’s energy adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury on Thursday said that no decision of increasing the gas tariffs has been taken yet.
The energy adviser revealed this while addressing the ‘International Conferrence on Energy and Power Engeneering-2019’, arranged by Brac University at Brac CDM.
‘No decision has been taken yet to increase the gas tariffs. Different gas distribution companies placed their proposals before Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) seeking hike in gas tariffs. A public hearing over this issue is also in progress.” Tawfiq-e-Elahi Said.
Meanwhile, BERC chairman Monowar Islam also assured that gas price hike will be reasonable urging not to pay heed on the proposed gas tariffs hike.
“People should not be worried about the gas tariffs hike. It doesn’t matter what gas distribution companies proposed. We will consider them to the reasonable extent,” he said.
He made this comment after joining the hearing on the gas tariffs hike at BERC.
