The government is working to revive the glory days of jute, once known as the ‘golden fiber’, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi said on Tuesday.
He made the comment at a rally marking the National Jute Day in front of the Parliamding.
“Many jute factories were shut down, workers lost their jobs and the jute industry was destroyent builed as post-1975 governments didn’t take any initiative to save the sector,” he said, according to a PID handout.
