Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Mojibur Rahman Monju, a member of its Dhaka metropolitan unit’s policymaking body Majlis-e-Shura, from the party.
Monju, who is also a former president of Jamaat’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, himself disclosed the information though a post on his Facebook profile on Saturday.
“Around 7:30pm on February 15, Friday, an executive council member on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maqbul Ahmed, informed me that my membership with the party has been revoked,” read his post.
However, the party’s central Majlis-e-Shura member Golam Mostofa told “Mojibur Rahman Monju has indeed been expelled from the organization. However I cannot disclose further information.”
Monju also said in his Facebook status: "For several years, I have been disagreeing with the organization in some of its policymaking. I also had notified the concerned party officials of my opinions.”
He is the second former Shibir president who has been expelled from Jamaat due to their demand of reforms within the party.
