Ex-judge fined for not providing protocol to HC judge

The High Court on Wednesday fined Tk 5,000 to former district and sessions judge of Feni for not providing protocol to the then High Court Judge Justice Syed Amirul Islam in the district.

The HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman came up with the verdict after hearing a suo moto (voluntary) rule issued by a HC bench in 2003.

Justice Syed Amirul Islam, a HC judge went to Feni in 2003 for a visit. As per the warrant of precedent the district and sessions judge is supposed to provide protocol to a judge of the Appellate and HC Divisions when they go out of Dhaka, but the then district and sessions judge Feroz Alam didn’t do so despite being informed of the visit.

After holding hearing on the rule the HC today delivered the verdict.

In the judgment, the HC today issued some directives for the district and session judges and the district administrations about giving protocol to the Supreme Court judges when they are on visit.
