Country’s first digital university Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BSMRDU) has already started its academic activities from this 2018-19 session.
The deadline for ‘applying online’ to get admitted in undergraduate level in the university ended on January 30 starting from January 1.
A total of 8,505 admission seekers applied for 100 (50+50) seats under two faculties.
The newly approved two faculties are Engineering Faculty and Education and Research Faculty. The courses under these two faculties are Bachelor of Science in IOT (Internet of Things) and Bachelor of Science in ICT (Information and Communications Technology).
The university authority published admission circular on December 28, 2018 in different leading national dailies and the varsity’s own website.
BSMRDU VC Munaz Ahmed Noor said, “Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina established the university with a view to creating skilled manpower in ICT sector from youths across the country. The youths have responded to the initiative as a total of 8,505 students applied for 100 (50+50) seats under two faculties. It bears the testimony of confidence in PM’s initiative and her government.”
He also said, “The existing teachers and experts of the university have already made an app titled ‘Learning Management System’ (LMS) to turn it into a ‘Smart University’ (http://lms.bdu.ac.bd).”
“The admitted students will get interactive and online facilities, digital class-activities management facility from the very first day of their class through this app. Online course registration in every semester, class-routine, attendance, providing class resource, online quiz, assignment-feedback and result management will be completed through this LMS.“
He also added, “Besides, Blog-forum for teacher-student inter-personal communication, Live class of teachers at home and abroad, Video-conferencing, bringing the regular classes under recording coverage- all these creative features have already been included into the LMS.”
“The university will represent Bangladesh in ICT sector in future if PM continues her support on it,” he said.
