Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed has said the government officials must work sincerely to complete their tasks timely and reach their services at the door steps of common people.
“Irregularities, corruptions and negligence in the government works will not be tolerated and the responsible officials will be punished for such misdeeds,” he told a meeting at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday afternoon.
Chaired by Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Shafiul Arif, the meeting was addressed, among others, by District Council Chairman Advocate Matiar Rahman and Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque.
District level officials of different government departments, organizations and educational institutions, public representatives and journalists were present.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nuruzzaman said Lalmonirhat is a frontier district having borders with the neighbouring India.
“We have to continue our all-out campaign against drugs smuggling and narcotics. The present government has taken tight measures against drug dealers,” he said.
The people involved in smuggling and cross-border crimes will be identified and stern legal actions will be taken against them to make the society free from the wrath of drugs, he added.
The social welfare minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken all preparations for proper implementation of the election manifesto of Awami League and there will be no poverty in Bangladesh in the near future.
