CHATTOGRAM: Newly-appointed Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed warned that no corruption will be tolerated and revolutionary changes will be brought in his ministry.

He also promised to take the ministry among top-five with cooperation of the people.

The minister came up with the remarks while talking to journalists at VVIP Lounge of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport on Thursday. He arrived in Chattogram for the first time after taking oath as minister.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has kept faith in him through giving responsibility of the ministry.

“I will uphold her trust. Managing a ministry is a very important task having opportunities for working for the people. The Land Ministry will be turned as a service-oriented one,” he said.

Seeking cooperation from all, the minister said he wants to be successful and will not leave the ministry shouldering liability of failure.

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Elius Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) Noor-E-Alam Mina and South district Awami League General Secretary Mofizur Rahman were present at that time.

Mentionable, party-men had been organising a reception programme on the occasion of arrival of the minister over the last few days. But, the minister didn’t agree to accept the reception considering sufferings of people.

Despite the unwillingness, many party leaders and activists gathered in the airport area to welcome the minister.

Mentionable, Jabed also served as state minister of the same ministry in the last term of the ruling government.

AL Presidium Member and veteran politician Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu won the Chattogram-13 (Anwara) constituency defeating BNP candidate Sarwar Jamal Nizam in 2008.
