The High Court today rejected a writ petition challenging parliamentary poll candidacy of actor Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque.
Farooque is a ruling Awami League candidate for Dhaka 17 constituency.
His rival BNP candidate barrister Andalib Rahman Partho filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging legality of the candidacy.
A division bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam rejected the petition for not being submitted properly. Petitioner's contention is that Farooq cannot contest polls as he is a loan defaulter.
