Section 144 imposed in Thakurgaon over temple land dispute

The local administration on Sunday slapped section 144 in the adjoining areas of a disputed temple in Auliapur union of Sadar upazila in Thakurgaon, UNB reports.

The administration imposed the ban from 10 am which will be effective until further notice, said Abdullah Al Mamun, Thakurgaon upazila nirbahi officer.

He said there had a dispute between Sonaton Hindu and ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) followers over a piece of 34-acre land of Roshikalal Ziu temple.

On September 4, a man was killed in a clash between the two groups, said the UNO adding: “The trials of the murder and ownership cases are still under process.”

To avoid any untoward situation, the administration imposed the ban, said the UNO.
