The second conference of South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum (SAMLF) 2018 will be held at a city hotel here on October 9 and 10.
Bangladesh is going to host the SAMLF , aiming to invite investment in shipping sector.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan briefed reporters about the upcoming conference at the secretariat here on Sunday.
The SAMLF will be held under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Shipping of Bangladesh in association with the Gateway Media (Pvt) Ltd of India and Colombo International Maritime Conference Event (CIMC) of Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the programme on October 9 as the chief guest while the Shipping Minister will preside over the programme.
Ministers, secretaries and high officials of shipping sector related trade and industries of 20 countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, will attend the programme.
Development and possible investment in shipping sector, solution to barriers in regional trade, ship building, dredging and other issues related to the sector will be discussed in the two-day forum.
The first conference of SAMLF was held in Mumbai in India last year.
