The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday conducted raids on the offices of civil surgeons in three districts over allegations of taking extra fees illegally during medical checkups of those going to Malaysia and Middle East countries with jobs.
Three ACC enforcement teams formed following directives of directorate general (administration) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury raided the offices of civil surgeons in Dhaka, Madaripur and Tangail.
During the drives, the teams talked to the job-seekers intending to go abroad, enquired whether any bribe is demanded for delivering services and ensured that certificates are given without any irregularity and harassment.
The teams also ensured that the tests are done at government hospitals.
They urged the service seekers to inform the ACC over its hotline 106 if there is any illegal money transaction or harassment in giving health certificates.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said the aim of their drive is to keep government offices free from corruption.
