Two parliamentary bodies have got new chairmen as the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday reconstituted a total of six committees.
Jatiya Party MP Shameem Haider Patwary (Gaibandha-1) was made chairman of the Standing Committee on Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry replacing Awami League MP Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun (Narsingdi 4).
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was made chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Ministry as the post fell vacant with the death of Opposition Chief Whip Tajul Islam Choudhury (Kurigram-2).
The four other parliamentary committees reconstituted changing their members are the Parliamentary Committee on Private Members Bills and Resolutions, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land Ministry, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
Chief Whip ASM Feroz moved the proposals for constituting the committees. Later, the proposals have been adopted by voice vote with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
