Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity Secretary General Mozammel Haque Chowdhury was released from jail on bail on Thursday night hours after a Dhaka court rejected a petition to show him arrested in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
He walked out of Dhaka Central Jail at Keraniganj around 8:36pm, according a post made on his unverified Facebook account, reports UNB.
Earlier in the day, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mazharul Haque dismissed the petition to show Mozammel arrested in the case filed with Kafrul Police Station.
The court on Tuesday granted Mozammel bail in a case filed on extortion charge but he was not released from the jail as the investigation officer of the second case filed the petition to the court to show him arrested in it.
Earlier on September 6, police arrested Mozammel from his Sanarpar house in Narayanganj in the extortion case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station.
Later in the day, a court placed him on a one-day remand after he was produced before it seeking a seven-day remand.
