CHATTOGRAM: A private hospital was vandalised in the port city on Wednesday following the death of a patient due to alleged negligence by physicians.

Relatives of the deceased — Mohammad Sarker, 40, son of Khalilur Rahman of the city’s Agrabad area — carried out the vandalism.

Ashfaqur Rahman, nephew of the victim, told the daily sun that his uncle was admitted to ‘Parkview Hospital’ in the city’s Panchlaish area with migraine on Monday night.

He said his uncle had been taking medicine as per prescription by physicians of the hospital over the last three days.

He went through different tests of blood, urine, diabetes and cholesterol following directives of the physicians, he said.

“The hospital authority could not identify any problem after the diagnosis,” the nephew said alleging that his uncle died due to negligence by the physicians and the hospital authority.

Hospital Managing Director (MD) Dr ATM Rezaul Karim said the patient died of cardiac arrest.
