An anthology of poems entitled ‘Under the Blue Roof’ has just come out under the auspices of Amazon. But it is not just an ordinary anthology.
It is a special collection of 350 English poems by 37 Bangladeshi poets living abroad. Quazi Johirul Islam, a New-York based Bangladeshi poet, has edited this ground-breaking anthology and the cover of the book was based on a painting by Artist Raghib Ahsan.
Poets who have contributed to the volume include, well-known poets as well as budding poets. Below is the list of poets presented in alphabetic order: Abu Sayeed Obaidullah, Abu Zubier, Ahmed Jamil, Ahmed Musa, Ajit Patra, Akm Abdullah, Alam Siddique, Ashoke Kar, Dilara Hafiz, Fakir Selim, Ferdous Nahar, Lalon Noor, Mahboob Hasan, Masud Khan, Maznu Shah, Mohammad Nasirullah, Monija Rahman, Mujib Erom, Nazmun Nahar, Quazi Abrar Johir, Quazi Johirul Islam, Ravisankar Maitree, Ripa Noor, Rownak Afroz, Sakif Islam, Salem Suleri, Shah Alam Dulal, Shakil Reaz, Shamim Azad, Sheuli Jahan, Shukla Ganguli, Subrata Augustine Gomes, Sujan Barua Saim, Uday Shanakar Durjay, Vaila Salina Liza, Zakir Hossain, Zebunnesa Jotsna.
Some of the poems included in the anthology were written in English, some were translated from Bengali by the poets themselves, and some translations were done with support from professional translators.
