The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Civil Aviation And Tourism on Monday recommended imposing excessive fine for delay in releasing goods from the airports.
It also asked Biman Bangladesh Airlines to send an offer to Finance Ministry seeking a change in the law if necessary and reducing transit times at Chittagong and Sylhet Airports by regulating activities of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, reports UNB.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the recommendations at its 39th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with the committee's chairman Lt. Col. Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd.) in the chair, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
The body also suggested to hand permanent work contracts to all the temporary employees of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, in keeping with a court directive.
The committee recommended forming a list of agencies that did not follow conditions set by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in transporting hajj pilgrims and taking legal action against them, even cancelling their license.
Committee members AKM Shahjahan Kamal, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, Professor Md Ali Ashraf, Tanveer Imam, Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Kamrul Asraf Khan, and Sabiha Nahar Begum attended the meeting.
