President Abdul Hamid on Thursday expressed deep shock at the death of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
“His (Vajpayee’s) contribution to the development of this region will ever be remembered with due respect,” the President said in a condolence message.
He also said his demise has also created an irreparable vacuum in the politics o the subcontinent.
Hamid prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee died on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 93.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where Vajpayee had been hospitalised for more than two months for treatment of a kidney infection and chest congestion, announced his death.
